In its first 150 years of activity, before the creation in the early 1980s of a series of four pocket watches for the Chronométrie Beyer, Zürich, and the elaboration of the four Calibre 89, the Patek Philippe manufacture did not produce than eleven watches with equation of time. The first (1865) being endowed with only an engraved table of equation of time table, either without a clock mechanism; the eleventh being the "Supercomplication" (1933) of Henry Graves Jr. (1868-1953), New York.

The present watch is therefore the twenty-first or the twenty-second watch ever made by Patek Philippe with this horological complication whose mechanism is fitted with a mobile making a single rotation per year (the cam equation of time).
