Patek Philippe References 1485 "étanche" (water-resistant) and 1486 "étanche à cornes capuchonnées" (water-resistant with hooded lugs). These references are launched in 1940 and remained in production until the early-1950s. Ref. 1485 was made in stainless steel. Ref. 1486 was made in gold, the majority in yellow gold, more rarely in rose gold. The case is made under the Swiss invention patent No. 207 378, delivered on October 31, 1939 (requested on August 25, 1938), to Taubert Frères S.A., Geneva, for a "Dispositif de montage hermétique pour montre à mouvement de forme.". Both references have special sliding lateral bars to keep the watch resistant to humidity and dust. Between 100 to 200 examples were produced.
