Open-face, "Bassine" round-shaped pocket watch with subsidiary seconds at 6 and one horological complication: Minute-repeater on two steel gongs (activated by the slide at 3 o'clock). Polished case-back engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with the cypher "LC". Cuvette engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with the mention "A/Monsieur/Le Pasteur/Léon Cart/La Paroisse Nationale des/Ponts-de-Martel/en témoignage/de reconnaissance pour son fidèle/Ministère/1893-1909" (To the Reverend Léon Cart, The National Parish of Ponts-de-Martel, in recognition of his gratefulness Ministry, 1893-1909). White enamel dial with black painted suspended "Breguet" numerals. 19''', rhodium-plated, with going barrel, straight-line equilibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance with gold poising screws and blued steel Breguet hairspring.

Léon Cart spent his childhood in La Chaux-de-Fonds where he was born. In 1888, he came to Neuchâtel to continue his studies at the Faculty of Theology. In 1892, he came out degree in theology (the first of his volley) and soon became Deacon of the district of Le Locle and shortly thereafter Reverend of the parish of Ponts-de-Martel. In September 1893, he married Léa Emma Jakobi in Vevey, a native of Trimbach (Canton of Solothurn). He exercises a long and faithful ministry to the Ponts interrupted by his appointment by the Neuchatel State Council as professor of theology at the University of Neuchâtel where he then occupies the Hebrew chair (1901-1909) and Biblical archaeology. Unfortunately, a long illness will gradually prevent him from working and took him away when he is only 47 years old.

Leon Cart is the author of "Au Sinaï et dans l'Arabie Pétrée", Neuchatel, Imprimerie Attinger Frères, 1915 (Extract of Volume XXIII of the Bulletin of the Neuchatel Society of Geography; 524 pp.), imposing work published (autumn 1915) just before his death (May 1916), following his trip to the Middle East.
