Only one signed work by the monogramist F.A. is known so far. Namely, the still life with melons, grapes and pears preserved in the collection of Galleria Corsini in Rome. Paintings attributed to the monogramist F.A. are stylistically strongly influenced by the works of Michelangelo Cerquozzi (1602-1660) and the artists around the so-called Pseudo Salini (c. 1633-1655).

The present pair of still lifes stands in the tradition of arrangements of tropical fruits such as peach, grape, pomegranate and melon, which were primarily intended to express prosperity and joie de vivre. At the same time, they probably stimulated the viewer's sense of taste with their realistic depiction.

Vom Monogrammisten F.A. ist bisher nur ein einziges signiertes Werk bekannt. Es handelt sich dabei um das in der Sammlung der Galleria Corsini in Rom aufbewahrte Stillleben mit Melonen, Trauben und Birnen. Die dem Monogrammisten F.A. zugeschriebenen Gemälde sind stilistisch stark von den Werken Michelangelo Cerquozzis (1602-1660) und den Künstlern um den sogennanten Pseudo Salini (um 1633-1655) beeinflusst.

Das vorliegende Stilllebenpaar steht in der Tradition der Arrangements aus Südfrüchten wie Pfirsich, Traube, Granatapfel und Melone, die vor allem Wohlstand und Lebensfreude zum Ausdruck bringen sollten und durch ihre realitätsnahe Wiedergabe wohl gleichzeitig den Geschmackssinn des Betrachters anregten.
